Marit Blanke, M.Sc.

Institute of Jet Propulsion and Turbomachinery, IFAS, TU Braunschweig

In the scope of her research, Marit Blanke is numerically investigating the waste heat recovery in the context of integrated aero engines. For this, the geometry of the bypass duct is designed in a first step. The sensitivities of the design with respect to the heat transfer are then investigated and a reduced-order model is developed.

Additionally, the application of structured surfaces in the bypass duct is intended to enhance heat transfer. The structures increase the heat exchange surface and induce secondary flows that increase the heat transfer coefficient. RANS and scale-resolving simulations are carried out in this sub-project.
