SynTrac at DAGA 2026 in Dresden

SynTrac was represented at this year’s DAGA conference in Dresden with four participants: Jan Delfs, Ezzad Megat, Daniel Knuth, and Sabine Langer. DAGA is the largest German-speaking conference in the field of acoustics and takes place annually. Each year, the conference provides an excellent platform to present current research results, exchange ideas with the acoustics community, and strengthen SynTrac’s visibility within the field.

Jan Delfs and Ezzad Megat from DLR contributed to the scientific program with presentations directly related to SynTrac research topics. Jan Delfs presented work on “Towards an Analytical Model for Propeller Noise including Potential Near-Field Contributions,” addressing advanced modeling approaches for propeller noise. Ezzad Megat gave talk on his research conducted together with Roland Ewert, Jürgen Dierke, and Jan Delfs, titled “Jet Noise Simulation for a Highly Integrated Engine Aircraft Configuration,” highlighting ongoing efforts in the simulation of complex aeroacoustic phenomena.

Another presentation by Daniel Knuth from TU Braunschweig only indirectly related to SynTrac, but still merits highlighting as it connects to future research directions and can be seen as groundwork for the next funding period, particularly in the area of aircraft noise assessment. He delivered a presentation on “Subjective Plausibility Assessments of Auralized Aircraft Flyovers.”

Having stepped down from her role as President of the German Acoustical Society (DEGA) in July of last year, our SynTrac Spokesperson Sabine Langer attended the conference in another capacity.  A highlight was her role in delivering the laudatory speech for the recipient of the prestigious Helmholtz Medal, DEGA’s highest honor for lifetime achievement, awarded this year to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Otto von Estorff from TU Hamburg.

Overall, DAGA 2026 offered an excellent opportunity for SynTrac to present its research, engage with the scientific community, and contribute to ongoing discussions in the field of acoustics.
